Where the Story Began — By the Sea
Before the boundaries of cities were drawn, and before modern harbours lit the nights along the coast, the sea knew the way.
For thousands of years, vessels crossed the waters of the Gulf, carrying copper, timber, resins and spices between the ports of the ancient world, connecting Mesopotamia, the shores of Arabia and lands beyond the sea.
In ancient texts appeared the name Magan — a name associated with the sea, ships and trade; a world where journeys began with the wind, and distance could be sensed in the scent of land as it drew near.
It is from this memory that MAGAN SCENTS draws its spirit.
Imagine a coastline at sunset...
The warmth of sun-touched timber, ropes heavy with sea salt, fragrant smoke rising near the shore, and chests opened after a long voyage, releasing a mingling of woods, flowers, spices and resins.
The journey then follows the shores of the Emirates — from the calm waters of Abu Dhabi, past beaches and harbours shaped by life at sea, until the landscape changes in the east, where mountains rise near Fujairah and Kalba, and stone meets water.
Here, the sea is never a single scent.
It can be cool and saline at dawn, golden and warm at sunset, or dark beneath a night sky as vessels carry the aromas of distant lands.
This is how we see fragrance.
Some creations by MAGAN SCENTS remain — signature fragrances that become part of the House and accompany it through the years.
Others are born from a moment we choose not to recreate: a season, a harvest, a natural material, or an origin that gives a fragrance a character that may never return in quite the same way. These creations are released in limited quantities, and when the final bottle is gone, they become part of the memory of Magan.
Because the most beautiful journeys are never travelled twice in exactly the same way.
